A practical approach to how to migrate from the events calendar to nexdirectory.
Move event records into NexDirectory without losing dates, venues, organisers, media or search visibility.
Inventory the source
Export events, recurrence, venues, organisers, categories, images and current URLs before changing the live site.
ExploreChoose the NexDirectory event profile
Map source records into one coherent Events profile and decide which old taxonomies should remain filters.
ExploreChoose Free or Pro importing
Use Free for CSV or JSON migration with mapping suggestions, preview and duplicate skipping; use Pro only for AI rewriting or enrichment of connected Chrome drafts.
Put this guidance into practice.
Run a representative export
Include a recurring event, venue, organiser, online event, image and any custom field that matters.
Import to staging
Create draft records, check time zones and recurrence, then merge duplicates before a full migration.
Plan the cutover
Freeze source edits, run the final delta, map redirects and verify calendar, listing and schema URLs before launch.
Common questions.
Will every add-on field migrate automatically?
No. Inventory custom and add-on fields explicitly and decide whether each becomes a standard field, a Pro custom field or an editorial note.
Do I need Pro?
Not for CSV or JSON files of up to 5,000 rows. Pro is appropriate when a connected Chrome draft needs AI-assisted rewriting or enrichment.
Should both plugins publish at once?
Avoid duplicate public event URLs during cutover. Use staging and a clear switchover plan.
